THE STOREFRONT presents A.R. Gurney's LOVE LETTERS

The Storefront, Inc. has announced plans for a New York revival of A.R. Gurney's acclaimed play, LOVE LETTERS at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/), where The Storefront remains the company in residence. The show will feature a rotating cast, including Stephen Bogardus, Matt Bogart, Phil Geoffrey Bond, Charles Busch, Kristy Cates, Jim Dale, Jerry Dixon, Daisy Eagan, Alison Fraser, Randy Graff, Leslie Kritzer, Andrew Lippa, Julia Murney, Tonya Pinkins, Lonny Price and Seth Rudetsky. The play will run Monday evenings for an open-ended engagement opening on August 4th. Curtain for all performances is at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $18, plus a two-drink minimum.

LOVE LETTERS received it's world premiere on November 3, 1988 at the Long Wharf Theatre, in a production that featured John Rubinstein and Joanna Gleason, directed by John Tillinger. Since then, the play has been seen around the world, including a brief stint on Broadway featuring Colleen Dewhurst and Jason Robards. A cavalcade of celebrities have performed the piece, including Stockard Channing, Swoosie Kurtz, Nancy Marchand, Kate Nelligan, Paul Newman, Christopher Reeve, Lynn Redgrave, Joanne Woodward and many, many others.

LOVE LETTERS centers around the intersecting lives of Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner. Through a series of written correspondence, both hysterical and moving, we come to know both of them intimately - from their strict WASP upbringing, through later life political aspirations, love affairs, military service and artistic ambitions.
