
THE
BOY FROM OZ" IS BACK IN TOWN

Todd
McKenney , the original "Boy from Oz," is appearing in cabaret at
the CABARET HEADLINERS at the National Press Club (16 National Circuit,
Barton ACT, AU - 6273 3644 - http://www.npc.org.au/cabaret.htm)
in "An Evening with Todd McKenney" on Saturdays, September 23rd, 30th.
Andrew Worboys serves as musical director. The doors open at 6:00
pm for drinks and food. Dinner will be available (optional) and the
club will also be serving Mediterranean and Oriental Sharing Platters
and Bar Snacks. The Cabaret show starts at 8:00 pm. Members & guests,
$65.
Mr. McKenney
shot to fame with his acclaimed portrayal of Peter Allen in the Australian
musical "The Boy From Oz" and his performances in that musical have
gone down in the annals of indelible Australian performances. His
performance won him a string of awards including two MO Awards, the
Variety Club Heart Award, the Glugg Award, the Green Room Award, the
Australian Dance Award and most recently The Helpmann Award.
Since "The
Boy From Oz," Todd has toured nationally in the acclaimed David Atkins
production of "Singing In The Rain" in which he recreated the Gene
Kelly role, and recently triumphed as the MC in the Sam Mendes production
of the musical "Cabaret." Meantime, Todd has had to put his cabaret
career on hold.
Appearing
with Todd McKenney will be Andrew Worboys, who has been musical director
for such productions as "Annie," "Evita," and "Les Miserables."
