MENZIE & TOM MICHAEL in "HEY, LOOK ME OVER" at DAVENPORT'S
Critically
acclaimed Chicago cabaret duo Beckie Menzie and Tom Michael return
to DAVENPORT'S Piano Bar & Cabaret (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago,
IL - 773-278-1830 - http://www.davenportspianobar.com/)
Thursday's in April, the 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th at 8:00 pm with their
new show, "Hey Look Me Over" featuring the music of Cy Coleman. The
show is directed by Rob Lindley. The cover charge is $15 and there
is a 2-drink minimum.
The show celebrates the
immense body of work of legendary composer and Tony award-winner Cy
Coleman, and will include songs from many of his Broadway hits including
"Sweet Charity," "City of Angels," "The Life," "Seesaw" and "Little
Me" as well as the standards such as "Witchcraft" and "The Best is
Yet to Come."
Menzie is a two-time winner
of Chicago's AFTER DARK "Outstanding Cabaret Artist" award as well
as their 2002 Hall Of Fame Award. Beckie performs regularly in Chicago
at THE BIG HOUSE and at GENTRY and has been a featured performer at
the Cabaret Conventions in both New York City and in Chicago, as well
as the ASCAP & Chicago Humanities Festival concerts. An accomplished
songwriter, some of her original songs are featured on her nationally
acclaimed CD, "Heart & Soul."
Tom Michael has appeared
in such nightspots as New York City's Town Hall and Don't Tell Mama,
Chicago's Davenport's, Empire Room and Park West, The Royal Room in
Palm Beach, and Houston's Ovations. His 1999 debut CD release "Sailing
On" was named the "#1 CD of the Year" by WDVR FM and After Dark Chicago.
His newest release "Written In the Stars," which is garnering critical
acclaim and international radio play, was featured on the album spotlight
page of Billboard Magazine.
