Yazwin Ilieva Performs at FireBird
Ludmilla
("Milla") Yazwin Ilieva will perform songs from her new show "Do Re
Milla" on Wednesday, January 29th at 10:15 pm at THE FIREBIRD CAFE
(363 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-586-0244 - http://www.firebirdrestaurant.com/).
Ms. Ilieva's performance is directed by Margery Beddow, with musical
direction and arrangements by Paul Trueblood. The evening is hosted
by Chris Barrett, who appears nightly in this Russian-themed lounge.
There is no cover charge for the performance. There is a $15 food
or beverage minimum. Full dinner and snack menu is available after
8:00 pm.
"Do Re Milla" tells the
story of some of Milla's antics and of her family of old White Russian
nobility, transplanted to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The
show includes songs such as "How Does the Wine Taste," "Bower Bird,"
"Tear Joint" and "Yesterdays," accompanied by engaging anecdotes.
Other songs in the program include "I'm a Great Big Baby," and "Whistling
in the Dark."
Ludmilla Ilieva received
critical acclaim for her cabaret show "Hidden Voices" in which she
paid homage to vocal doubles and some of the great Hollywood musicals.
Other shows include her cabaret debut "An Earful of Music," a featured
role in "Music in the Air" written by Kern and Hammerstein and directed
by James Hammerstein at the Lamb's Theatre, "I'll Take Romance" in
collaboration with James Hammerstein at The Players, and The Cabaret
Convention at New York's Town Hall. Ms. Ilieva has attended The Juilliard
School in the Professional Studies Program, The Peabody Conservatory
of Music, and the Academie Ravel in France. She is the recipient of
numerous prestigious awards and scholarships, including Juilliard's
Mu Phi Epsilon Award.
