THE STOREFRONT presents more NEW MONDAYS

A songwriter's forum featuring Susan Birkenhead, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Carol Hall, Jay Leonhart, Galt MacDermot, David Zippel and a host of others.

The Storefront (http://www.storefronttheatre.com) has announced plans for a third round of their critically-acclaimed and award-winning NEW MONDAYS series, featuring the works of composers both legendary and up-and-coming. Each Monday, three songwriters will gather to debut three or four of their new compositions in front of a live audience. Some of the composers will perform the material themselves, some will be accompanied by accomplished vocalists from the worlds of theatre and cabaret. The series will run Mondays, March 10th through April 21st at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/). There is a $12 cover, and a 2-drink minimum. All performances begin at 7:00 pm. Please note there will be no performances on April 14th.

THE STOREFRONT was founded in late 2000. To date, the company has presented a multitude of productions, each earning critical praise and near capacity crowds. Recently, the young company debuted a new version of the Charles Strouse/Stephen Schwartz/Joe Stein musical, "Rags," starring Anne Runolfsson and Leslie Kritzer. Past productions include revues of the music of Stephen Schwartz and John Bucchino, as well as the original productions of the smash hit and MAC Award-winning revue," Gashole: The Wit and Wisdom of the 70's," and it's sequel "Ice Gasholes." For New Mondays, The Storefront was recently awarded the prestigious NYC Nightlife Award, from the collected critics of New York.

In 2002, the NEW MONDAYS series debuted work from fifty-seven composers, among them Jason Robert Brown, John Bucchino, William Finn, David Friedman, Julie Gold, Henry Krieger, Michael John LaChiusa, Andrew Lippa, Stephen Schwartz, Charles Strouse, Tom Jones, John Wallowitch and Frank Wildhorn. Among others, this next round features exciting music from: Susan Birkenhead (Jelly's Last Jam, Triumph of Love), Jeff Blumenkrantz (Urban Cowboy), Carol Hall (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas), Jay Leonhart (The Bass Lesson), Galt MacDermot (Hair, Two Gentleman of Verona), and David Zippel (City of Angels, Hercules). Furthermore, The Storefront is especially proud to present new and original works from composers and lyricists with whom you may not be as familiar.
