Daryl Sherman Returns to The Algonquin's Oak Room

Daryl Sherman, Manhattan's prized songbird and elegant mistress of the keyboard, will again be enchanting audiences in the famous THE ALGONQUIN OAK ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-840-6800 - http://www.algonquinhotel.com/) with a brand new CD and stellar team of accompanists for three nights, Thursday through Saturday, July 10th, 11th and 12th. For reservations and information please call the Oak Room at 212-840-6800. Showtimes are Thursday at 9:00 pm and Friday and Saturday at 9:00 and 11:30 pm. Music charge is $50 with a $20 food/drink minimum. Dinner seating begins at 7:30 pm.

With the brand-new release, A HUNDRED MILLION MIRACLES: The Music of Richard Rodgers (Arbors Records) Sherman applies her unique jazz-cabaret sensibility to finding new facets in familiar gems like "Getting To Know You," and uncovering such buried treasure as "How Was I To Know" (from a 1927 show starring Beatrice Lillie). This Centennial tribute celebrates the master composer's incredible output with fellow miracle men Lorenz Hart, Oscar Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim, songs still cherished the world over. Add to the sparkling cameos, winning duets with ageless hipster Bob Dorough, and sterling support from Boots Maleson, bass; Joe Cohn and James Chirillo, guitar. Throughout this special engagement, combinations of these guests will join in the festivities.

Recently back from a European tour that included a dazzling third return engagement at London's PIZZA ON THE PARK (11 Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, London - 020-7235-5273 - http://www.pizzaonthepark.com/), Sherman made new British fans with concerts in Wales, Leeds and Scotland and will return to the UK in August. She also made a stunning debut in Berlin.

Sherman recently guested again on National Public Radio's Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz with a lively tribute to Peggy Lee and earlier this year was presented with a "Cabaret Classic" award by the Mabel Mercer Foundation.
