Wallowitch: His Piano, His Songs" Extended For Two More Shows
at Danny's
John
Wallowitch continues at DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM (342 West 46th Street,
NYC - 1-212-265-8133 - http://www.dannysgrandseapalace.com/)
with two additional shows added for Saturday, October 18th at 7:00
pm and Sunday October 19th at 6:15 pm. The program features John's
own songs, both heart-felt and hilarious. It is dedicated to John's
long-time partner Bertram Ross, Martha Graham's leading male dancer,
who passed away on Easter Sunday this year. There is a $25 cover and
$15 food/drink minimum. Pre-show dining applies to the minimum, and
a dinner/show package is available for $54.50.
Mr. Wallowitch
is performed two successful summer months at Danny's and has now extended
his run for a 4th time. Recently, he inaugurated the White Barn Theatre's
summer 2003 season at the Lucille Lortel Theatre with his show "Wallowitchery."
Earlier this summer he performed his show "Outrageous Heart" at the
library at Lincoln Center, whose Rodgers and Hammerstein Archive now
houses copies of his bi-monthly cable show, "John's Cabaret," which
airs Tuesdays at 7:30 pm on Manhattan Cable's Channel 56.
The CD "Wallowitch
& Ross" was released last October on the Miranda Music label (http://www.MirandaMusic.com/).
The CD is based on the pair's program of arcane American songs by
the great composers, which ran at The Ballroom for many months. It
is available online at CDBaby (http://www.CDBaby.com/),
or from Tower Records, Footlight Records, and Hollywood Sheet Music.
The documentary
"Wallowitch & Ross: This Moment," a film by Richard Morris, has received
glowing reviews. The film is available on VHS and as a CD sound track
through http://www.wallowitchandross.com/.
A DVD, featuring a half a dozen more songs and additional footage,
was released in June. Four solo piano albums are available on the
Serenus label. Albums of John's songs," My Manhattan," "Back on the
Town" and "Dixie Carter Sings John Wallowitch Live at the Cafe Carlyle"
are available on the DRG label. Re-issues of these collector's items
are planned for the near future. A new CD, "Bertram's Songs," with
John singing and playing songs he wrote for Bertram Ross, will be
out this fall. Mr. Wallowitch is also currently recording a CD with
Lynn Lobban.
