Andrea Marcovicci Debuts at Morgans Cabaret

Prince Music Theater presents East Coast premiere of "Andrea Sings Astaire"

Acclaimed singer Andrea Marcovicci, who opened the Prince Music Theater in 1999 and returned with her triumphant performance in "Lady in the Dark" in 2001, makes her first appearance at MORGANS CABARET at THE PRINCE MUSIC THEATER (1412 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA - 215-569-9700 - http://www.princemusictheater.org/ ) from October 6th through 17th, with her latest show, "Andrea Sings Astaire."ÝShowtimes are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 pm and Sundays 3:00 pm. A smash hit in San Francisco, the 90-minute theater piece is a funny and vivid insider's story of the life and loves of the great Fred Astaire, told through two dozen classic songs from his repertoire. Performances take place UpStairs at the Prince in the Independence Foundation Black Box with table seating.Ý Wine, cocktails and coffee, plus savories and a selection of desserts, will be offered.ÝTickets are $32 Tuesdays through Fridays, $37 for weekend matinees and Sunday evenings, and $40 for Saturday nights. Three-show subscriptions ranging from $77 to $96 are also on sale. There is a $5 minimum per person at each performance.

Ms. Marcovicci will give Philadelphia audiences the first East Coast look at "Andrea Sings Astaire" just weeks before taking the show to the renowned Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room in Manhattan.Ý "Andrea Sings Astaire" will feature more than two dozen songs and stories about the legendary dancer, singer, actor and songwriter, with tunes by the Gershwins, Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin and more, including "Night and Day," "Something's Got to Give," and "The Way You Look Tonight."ÝAccompanied by her musical director/pianist Shelly Markham and bassist Jared Egan, the acclaimed chanteuse also offers songs by Astaire such as "I'm Building Up to an Awful Let-Down" and "If Swing Goes, I Go Too."Ý "Andrea Sings Astaire" is sponsored by Wachovia Bank.

Recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Back Stage, Andrea Marcovicci has developed a reputation for stellar performances on stage, film and television.Ý She starred on Broadway in the musical Ambassador and in Frank D. Gilroy's Any Given Day. Her screen credits include roles in The Front, Someone to Love, Jack the Bear, The Water Engine, Who Is Henry Jaglom? and Trapper John, M.D.Ý But her greatest accolades have come from her unmatched prowess in cabaret, with critics hailing her as "the most throbbingly irresistible voice in cabaret" (New York magazine) and "the greatest cabaret star of her generation" (London's International Herald-Tribune).Ý Marcovicci has performed at the White House, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and in concert halls throughout the world.Ý She has also received critical acclaim for her solo albums, which include Marcovicci Loves Movies, Just Kern, December Songs, New Words, Live from London, What Is Love? and Some Other Time.
