CABARET ARTISTS ASSOCIATION STARTED IN TEXAS

Following in the footsteps of Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC), Boston Association of Cabaret Artists (BACA), Chicago Cabaret Professionals (CCP), DC Cabaret Network and Cabaret West, the executive committee of the Cabaret Artists Association have successfully filed all of the paperwork and received the official state certificate for "Cabaret Artists Association" in Texas. Membership is $25 a year. Benefits of membership will include member discounts, access to membership mailing lists, web site links to performer and venue web sites, CD listings, a monthly newsletter and in the future hope to include - educational events and seminars (master classes, the business aspects of performing, etc.) in cooperation with local educational entities and visiting artists and an annual cabaret show where performers are drawn from the membership and eventually hope to host Texas Cabaret festivals and Conferences.

Founded in January 2004, the group's mission is to promote the awareness and advancement of cabaret performance as an art form in the state of Texas. The goals are to develop new audiences, and constantly encourage the press to cover cabaret via reviews and articles. Modeled after MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs), which virtually revitalized the Cabaret scene in New York City and the other Cabaret associations across the country the Cabaret Artists Association plans to grow the membership into a dynamic, state-wide organization.

Membership in the Association is open to all persons actively engaged in the live entertainment industry as cabaret singers, jazz musicians, comedians, cabaret proprietors, booking agents, press agents, journalists, performers and talent agents/personal managers, etc. The organization will be run entirely by volunteers with membership dues covering the daily operations and the maintenance of the association web site.
