ANNA BERGMAN IS BACK AT THE STANHOPE

Cabaret artist Anna Bergman delivers a musical valentine to The Big Apple, with the return engagement of her show ACROSS A CROWDED ROOM to STANHOPE PARK HYATT NEW YORK (995 Fifth Avenue, NYC - 212-650-4737 - http://stanhopepark.hyatt.com/).ÝDirected by Sara Louise Lazarus, Ms. Bergman will share the stage with musical director Rybeck on weekends in March, and with accompanist/composer Joseph Thalken on weekends in February. Performance dates are February 13th, 14th, 27th, & 28th and March 5th, 6th, 12th, & 13th at 8:30 pm. Cover charge $40 with dinner required.Ý

Bergman's third concert-cabaret and collaboration with Lazarus and Rybeck, ACROSS A CROWDED ROOM spotlights songs that promise love at first sight and happily-ever-after, explores the search for Mr. Right, and looks at the sometimes exasperating and heartbreaking but always exciting journey through love, romance, and marriage.Ý The tuneful tribute to romance, which played to sold-out audiences at The Stanhope when it debuted in December, showcases songs by the most celebrated American songwriters, including Rodgers and Hammerstein, The Gershwins, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, and many others.

Classically trained soprano Anna Bergman demonstrates her musical versatility in ACROSS A CROWDED ROOM, performing a sparkling and diverse musical repertoire ranging from romantic arias and steamy torch songs to a hilarious "Prince of My Dreams" medley.Ý Musical highlights include classics such as Romberg and Field's "Close as Pages in a Book," the Gershwins' "Blah, Blah, Blah," and Charles Gounod's "Juliet's Waltz."Ý Bergman offers contemporary perspectives on love with poignant renditions of "I Still Believe in Love" by Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager, "We're Gonna Be All Right," by Stephen Sondheim, and the Italian pop song "Con Te Partiro."Ý The multi-lingual artist will also perform rare gems by Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, and Joseph Thalken.

Anna Bergman has performed in The Kennedy Center's Sondheim Celebration, Carnegie Hall's centennial tribute to Ira Gershwin, The New York Festival of Song, Lyrics & Lyricists, and Jonathan Sheffer's opera Blood on the Dining Room Floor.Ý She has appeared in concerts at The Aspen Music Festival, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, and Chicago's Humanities Festival, and has graced the stage at renowned venues such as the Algonquin's Oak Room and The Colony's Royal Room in Palm Beach, among others.Ý The daughter of an American diplomat, Bergman enjoys singing in foreign languages, and as a singer who is equally at home in popular music, her repertoire ranges from popular and Broadway songs to operetta and opera.Ý Throughout her distinctive career, Bergman has garnered numerous honors for her eclectic and dazzling work.Ý In December 2003, Theatermania.com named Bergman's debut recording, Souvenir, "CD of the Month," and she was the featured cover story in Cabaret Scenes magazine.
