Radio presents Jim Caruso's Cast Party
Jim
Caruso's Cast Party, the showbiz social event that quickly became
a New York tradition, is now a weekly web radio show, heard on BroadwayWorld.com
at http://www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=810
. The radio show will be a combination of live recordings from Cast
Party (re-opening in May), as well as in-studio interviews with Broadway
and cabaret personalities who will provide their private collecton
of performance recordings. Listeners can tune in every Tuesday and
Friday night at 8:00 pm exclusively on BroadwayWorld.com.
The relatively
new theatre web radio station currently boasts 5,000 listeners a week.
Jim's first guest will be singer/composer Johnny Rodgers, who will
discuss his involvement on the "Maury Yeston Songbook" CD (PS CLASSICS)
and play cuts from his recent sold-out concert at BIRDLAND (315 West
44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080 - http://www.birdlandjazz.com/
). This premiere episode of Cast Party will air on April 23rd at 8:00
pm.
Host Jim
Caruso and pianist Billy Stritch oversee the live version of Cast
Party, which has become the place for entertainers like Josh Groban,
Linda Lavin, Jason Alexander, Liza Minnelli, Alan Cumming and Matthew
Broderick to celebrate and entertain each other at the baby grand
until the wee hours of the morning. Cast Party was recentlly honored
with a 2004 Nightlife Award, and New York Magazine celebrated the
weekly event in their "Best Of" issue.
Jim Caruso
was recently seen co-starring with Kathie Lee Gifford on Showtime
Television in Personal Assistant, which was written and directed by
Charles Busch. Jim also co-starred on the Nostalgia Network variety
sit-com, Cafe DuArt for two seasons. As a singer, Jim has won four
MAC Awards and two Back Stage Magazine Bistro Awards for his sold-out
New York runs at Arci's Place, The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel,
The Russian Tea Room, Carnegie Hall, Carolines Comedy Club and Birdland.
He has also
performed in runs at the Cinegrill and Gardenia in Los Angeles, The
Vic Theater and Davenport's in Chicago, Libby's in Atlanta, the Colony
Palm Beach Hotel in Florida and the Connaught Room in London. Caruso
guest-hosted "Broadway On Broadway 2000" in Times Square for a crowd
of 100,000 theater fans, hosted the 2000 MAC Awards at Town Hall in
Manhattan and co-hosted the 2003 Drama Desk Awards webcast. His debut
recording, "Caruso Live and In Person" was released on the LML Music
label, and within two weeks, went to number one on both the album
and singles charts at Outvoice.com.
As a writer,
Jim was consulting editor and writer for the largest selling InTheater
Magazine in history, and contributes regularly to InStyle Magazine
and Theatermania.com. He has produced and booked television talk and
entertainment programs like "Jim J. & Tammy Faye" and "Fox After Breakfast,"
and is also a regular Field Producer for E! Entertainment Television,
working on "Celebrity Profiles" and covering the 2002 Tony Awards.
