Betsyann
Faiella in "A Jazz Tribute To Frank Sinatra"

Vocalist
Betsyann Faiella will make her THE JAZZ BAKERY (3233 Helms Avenue,
Culver City, CA - 310-271-9039 - http://www.jazzbakery.com/
) debut in "A Tribute To Frank Sinatra" appearing with jazz legend
Hank Jones on Piano, June 15th through June 20th. The trio is complemented
by the inclusion of Sinatra sideman and AIX recording artist, Jim
De Julio, on bass, and Joe La Barbera, of the Bill Evans Trio, on
drums. There will be two shows nightly at 8:00 and 9:30 pm, and ticket
prices are $25.
This engagement
of "A Tribute To Frank Sinatra" follows two sold out weeks at the
Blue Note, NYC, in August of 2003 and March of 2004. The three constant
elements in both engagements have been Frank Sinatra, Hank Jones,
and Betsyann Faiella. Since the release of her debut CD, "Can I Be
Frank?" (LML Music), Ms. Faiella has been touring the country, performing
in support of her sleek and daring recording, a tribute to none other
than ol' Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra.
Ms. Faiella
has followed an unusual and diverse path since her cabaret debut at
New York City's Reno Sweeney. She was discovered singing at the Empire
Diner in Chelsea, where she was the head waitress. Soon, Faiella was
traveling and earning her living as a singer performing throughout
the U.S. and Canada.
After moving
to Los Angeles in the 1980s, Betsyann had a complete change of career.
According to her own description, she "stumbled" into TV commercial
production by responding to an ad in The Hollywood Reporter. She spent
more than a decade as a line producer on commercials for Chevron,
Lexus, Nissan, Budweiser, Coca-Cola and scores of others. Faiella
never stopped singing, but performing took a back seat in her life
for awhile.
A few years
ago, Faiella began to get restless and simply had to admit to herself
that singing needed to be more of a priority in her life. The decision
to record a debut CD was a logical progression to this commitment.
Her selection of songs to record, almost exclusively associated with
Frank Sinatra was the bravest decision in this undertaking. Faiella
acknowledges that Sinatra's voice was one of her earliest musical
memories, and he remains her most revered influence.
