BARBARA FASANO'S HAROLD ARLEN TRIBUTE RETURNS TO DUPLEX

Following her successful and critically acclaimed run this summer, award-winning pop/jazz vocalist Barbara Fasano returns to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/ ) with her unique and intimate take on the life and work of songwriter Harold Arlen, whose centennial is in February 2005. Joining Fasano will be jazz pianist John di Martino, who, in addition to his work as a leader, has performed and recorded with Grady Tate, Ray Barretto and the late vocalist Sylvia Syms. "i had a love once: arlen songs" returns with an extended engagement, beginning Tuesday, October 19th and 26th and running Tuesdays throughout November, at 7:00 pm. There is a $20 music charge and a 2-drink minimum.

Arlen (1905-1986) was the composer of standards such as "Over the Rainbow," "Come Rain or Come Shine," "The Man That Got Away," "Accentuate the Positive," and the scores of A Star Is Born, House of Flowers, and, most famously, The Wizard of Oz. Arlen's collaborators included Johnny Mercer, E.Y. "Yip" Harburg, Ted Koehler, Leo Robin and Truman Capote, all of whom will be represented in the show. While Fasano will sing some of the standards Arlen wrote, she will also bring to light some intriguing rarities, including the evening's title song, for which Arlen wrote the lyric, and which is believed to be his last work.

Ms. Fasano is a two-time Back Stage Bistro Award winner (Outstanding Vocalist, Outstanding Recording: THE GIRLS OF SUMMER) and a MAC Award nominee. Her engagements have taken her from The Oak Room at The Algonquin Hotel and Town Hall in New York to The Cinegrill in Los Angeles.
