RUBEN FLORES AT HELEN'S FOR REPRISE OF ACCLAIMED SHOW

Ruben Flores brings back his 2004 Back Stage BISTRO AWARD winning show "Jobim, Veloso, Porter and more..." for one more performances on Friday, April 30th at 9:30 pm at HELEN'S RESTAURANT, CABARET & PIANO LOUNGE (169 Eighth Avenue, NYC - 212-206-0609). Musical director is Matthew Ward. Mr. Flores made his NYC cabaret debut with this show in early 2003, and the performances garnered rave reviews. There is a $15 music charge ($7 for MAC & CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members) plus a $15 food/drink minimum. Dinner is available.

Before moving to New York from his native Mexico, Ruben had been part of many successful shows in Mexico, including the TV smash hit "Picardia Mexicana" (also seen in the US on UNIVISION). This is a musical comedy show in which Ruben appeared as lead singer and actor, doing impersonations of latin (among others) performers, namely, Luis Miguel, Manuel Mijares and David Summers.Ý Hosted by Paty Navidad and Rene Casados, the show ran for four seasons in Mexico and was at the top of the rating charts.ÝAs a result of this show, Ruben was chosen to perform live at many performances, including the opening number of the Mexican Academy Awards, "Los Heraldos 2000."Ý

He was also cast in Disney's "The Beauty and the Beast" -the first Broadway-caliber show ever produced in Mexico - where Ruben played Gaston and Monsieur D'Arque (for some performances).Ý In this production, Ruben had the privilege to work with Keith Batten & Rob Roth (directors), Dan Mojica & Matt West (choreographers), Jim May (musical director) and Michael Kozarin (musical supervisor). He also served as lead, male singer with the "Circo Beat" band at Hard Rock Cafe in Mexico.

In addition, Mr. Flores was part of "The Kiss of the Spider Woman" in which he played Gabriel, the waiter.Ý This show was choreographed by Chet Walker a la Bob Fosse.Ý Other credits include:Ý "Grease" (Teen Angel); "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"; and recently, "South Pacific" with the Barrington Stage Company (Julianne Boyd, director; Tony Parisi, choreographer; Douglas Coates, musical director).
