PHIL'S
FRIDAY NIGHT STORIES PRESENTS "JUST KEEP DANCING"
The
Storefront has announced plans for the second installment of PHIL'S
FRIDAY NIGHT STORIES at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher
Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/).
On Friday, February 27th, Phil Geoffrey Bond's short story, JUST KEEP
DANCING will be featured, starring Jana Robbins. The series strives
to theatricalize short stories, with a cast of singers and actors.
Musical Direction is by Ray Fellman. The performance will begin at
7:00 pm. There is an $8 cover, ($5 for members of MAC and CABARET
HOTLINE ONLINE), as well as a 2-drink minimum.
JUST KEEP
DANCING is the story of a seasoned actress, stuggling to find her
place in society as she arrives at a new stage in life. Set against
the backdrop of New York City in the early 1990's, it's a story of
survival and fame, and the odd relationship between the two.
Included
in the cast of JUST KEEP DANCING in addition to Ms. Robbins, are a
myriad of performers familiar to the cabaret scene, as well as performers
from the Storefront company. Among the cast: Phil Geoffrey Bond, Brandon
Cutrell, Peter Haas, Jeanne MacDonald, Marieann Meringolo, Carolyn
Montgomery and Lennie Watts.
Jana Robbins
has appeared in leading roles on Broadway in GOOD NEWS, I LOVE MY
WIFE, CRIMES OF THE HEART, ROMANCE/ROMANCE, GYPSY - where she played
Mazeppa (the bump it with a trumpet stripper) while standing by for
Tyne Daly as Mama Rose (40 performances), and THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S
WIFE where she stood by and went on many times for both Linda Lavin
(Valerie Harper) and Michele Lee. When "ALLERGIST'S WIFE", went on
National Tour after its Broadway run, Jana replaced Michele Lee and
costarred across the country opposite Valerie Harper. Earlier National
Tours include Ethel in FOOTLOOSE and Aldonza in MAN OF LA MANCHA with
Jose Ferrer. She's has guest starred on TV in CHEERS, ROSEANNE, BABYLON
5 and JAG, among others. She's had several recurring roles on ONE
LIFE TO LIVE and GENERAL HOSPITAL, and recently appeared on LAW AND
ORDER as Jean Piccone. Her film credits include THE LAST DAYS OF FRANKIE
THE FLY with Dennis Hopper and Keifer Sutherland, EXECUTIVE TARGET
with Michael Madsen and Roy Schieder, and HAUNTED HEART with Olympia
Dukakis. Jana's one-woman show - ONE HELL OF A RIDE! (The songs of
Cy Coleman) has played cabarets and theaters across the country to
great reviews.
