TOM GROUNDS TO PERFORM AT WATERTOWER THEATRE'S 2004 OUT OF THE LOOP FESTIVAL

Tom Grounds is bringing his critically acclaimed show 'Something That I Wanted You to Know' to the 2004 'Out of the Loop Festival' at WATERTOWER THEATRE (15650 Addison Road Addison, TX - 972-450-6232) on Saturday March 13th at 8:00 PM* in the Main Stage space. The festival runs from March 4th through March 14th. The invitation comes on the heels of a successful New York run of this same show last November. (*note date change)

"Something That I Wanted You to Know" is an autobiographical look at Tom's life through songs of the ever growing American Songbook. The show includes songs by Craig Carnelia, Brian Lasser, Jason Robert Brown, Wayne Moore, Tom Andersen, Babbie Green, and many others. The show explores Relationships, Families, Careers, Hopes and dreams along the road of life. In one or more of these areas, we've all had a moment when we look back and ask "What was I thinking?" With humor and sensitivity, Tom shares his experiences of making sense out of adolescence, the ups and downs of falling in (and out) of love, and unpacking the baggage of the past.

The show started life in 1999 when artistic director Linda K. Leonard, musical director Ricky Pope and Tom conceived a 90-minute show under a different name for the Cabaret Series of WaterTower Theatre. That show was re-worked and served as Tom's debut CD which was released in November 2002. In March of 2003, the current 60-minute version was developed and that is the show that Tom, Linda and Ricky took to New York and will be performed in the festival.

Tom has been a professional performer since the age of 13 when he landed an equity role in Chicago. Over the years Tom has been seen on many regional musical theatre stages, and with regional orchestras and opera companies in various roles. Tom made his New York debut at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall as a soloist with the Gary Beard Chorale shortly after it's renovation in 1985.

The Out of the Loop Festival provides opportunities for existing and emerging theatre, dance and music companies and artists to present work that may vary in form and presentation from their typical content. Together, these companies provide the North Dallas and surrounding areas with a diverse range of artistic endeavors. Regional and Dallas-based artists in theatre, dance, music, comedy, puppetry, and poetry will be presented side by side throughout the Festival.

WaterTower Theatre was formed in 1996 as the resident theatre company of the Addison Theatre Centre. Its inaugural production was the world premiere of Sandy Duncan's one-woman show Free Fall. The company began its first full season in October of 1996 with the visually stunning production of Camping with Henry and Tom. Of that production, Lawson Taitte of The Dallas Morning News said "Dallas County's most striking theater space is back in business." Since that time, audiences have been awed by strong performances and award-winning design.

WTT continues to emerge as a major force in the regional theatre community, thanks in large part to enthusiastic audience response and critical success recognized by the Dallas Theater League and the Dallas/Ft. Worth Theater Critics Forum. Current programming includes an annual season of five productions, two holiday productions, the Out of the Loop Festival featuring theatre, dance, music and visual art, a summer musical theatre camp for children and various other education programs.
