Michael Holland Wins 2004 OutMusic Award

Performing Songwriter and Composer/Lyricist for "Believe in Me ... A Bigfoot Musical" Wins 2004 OutMusic Award for Outstanding Songwriter of the Year

Bigfoot Productions is proud to announce that composer/lyricist Michael Holland has won the 2004 OutMusic Award for Outstanding Songwriter of the Year (http://www.outmusic.com/ ) for his recent solo release, "Beach Toys Won't Save You". The awards were held on June 13th at THE KNITTING FACTORY (74 Leonard Street, NYC - 212-219-3132 - http://www.knittingfactory.com/ ), hosted by veteran UK songwriter, broadcaster and campaigner, Tom Robinson. Other nominees in this year's Outstanding Songwriter category included Rufus Wainwright, Rachael Sage, Leah Zicari and Deidre McCalla.

Michael Holland is a NYC-based musician with four self-produced CDs and a shelf full of awards to his credit. A singer/multi-instrumentalist with a four-octave vocal range, Holland writes his own critically acclaimed material, and has performed across the country in various musical incarnations. Along with partner-in-crime Karen Mack, he is responsible for the cabaret cult hit "Gashole!" (http://www.gashole.net/ ), which has been playing to sold-out houses for over three years. In spring of 2003, Holland performed the world premiere of "Another Day in the Modern World" on the tribute CD "The Maury Yeston Songbook." His own most recent CD, "Beach Toys Won't Save You" (Miss Prim Records), was released in January of 2004. Holland wrote and produced the album, did all the arrangements, and played most of the instruments as well.

"Believe in Me ... A Bigfoot Musical," a deft and dark musical comedy marks Holland's first production to be presented in conjunction with The New York International Fringe Festival (http://www.fringenyc.org/ ). Performances will take place in NYC between August 13th and August 29th, 2004 (specific dates, times and locations TBA). The show features a book by Adrien Royce, based on her stage play "Everything That Happens in the Woods is Real." which won Second Place honors in the 2003 Sonoma County Repertory Theatre New Works Festival (musical category).
