) in November by inviting two superb artists, Peter Straker and Osvalda
Cerati, to make their long awaited debuts at London's unique musical
cabaret and chanson club in a globe-trotting bill of superlative song.
This event will take place on Tuesday, November 30th at 8:00 pm. Tickets

Peter Straker
is a true musical cabaret and theatre legend with a string of illustrious
and impeccably cult credits as a singer and actor. He's a veteran
of the original London cast of Hair, a former Frank N Furter in The
Rocky Horror Show, an associate of the Alan Parsons Project and Freddie
Mercury (who produced two of his four solo albums), and has even been
in Doctor Who.
In 1999 Peter
found further acclaim as an interpreter of Jacques Brel in a well-received
run on the Edinburgh fringe, and the Brel show, now directed by Mel
Smith, has been honed through numerous tours and performances since.
He will be rushing back from dates in Japan to deliver tonight's rare
in concert performances featuring the works of Brel and other great
songwriters delivered by a truly great voice.
Also new
to Pirate Jenny's is the stunning Osvalda Cerati. Originally from
Milan, Osvalda has worked extensively as a singer and dancer specialising
in the pungent tradition of Argentinian tango, touring internationally
over the past few years with the revue show Fascinacien de Tango.
She'll be featuring two genres, tango and Italian song, unfairly underrepresented
at Pirate Jenny's in what promises to be a fascinating and engaging
set.
Pirate Jenny's
founder and host Des de Moor is acknowledged as one of Britain's leading
artists working in the cabaret-chanson tradition, with a repertoire
encompassing his own salty English chansons and innovative interpretations
of other people's material, including a line in original and faithful
English versions of mainland European songs. Tonight in the fourth
of a series of special themed sets he'll be exploring the French side
of his repertoire (and leaving the Brel to Peter!). Expect songs from
the likes of Prevert and Kosma, Claude Nougaro, Georges Brassens and
Barbara in new interpretations with David Harrod at the piano.
