Julie Wilson Show Extended at Helen's Hideaway

Cabaret icon Julie Wilson, celebrating 65 years in show business, has been extended at Manhattan's newest cabaret room, The Hideaway Room at HELEN'S RESTAURANT, CABARET & PIANO LOUNGE (169 Eighth Avenue, NYC - 212-206-0609), with additional performances scheduled for Thrusday through Saturday, April 8th throught 10th at 8:00 pm with her show "I'm Still Here," with musical director David Lewis. This is Ms. Wilson's exclusive New York engagement prior to her 80th birthday gala in the fall. Dinner seating begins at 6:30 pm. There will be a $25 music charge, and a $15 food/beverage minimum. Reservations are highly recommended.

The most honored artist in cabaret, Julie Wilson remains a living legend and, with this engagement, celebrates 65 years in show business. Her remarkable career includes Broadway, films and cabaret. She has performed in every major cabaret in the United States since her return to nightclubs in 1986 after a 10-year hiatus to raise her two sons and care for her aging parents in Omaha, Nebraska.

Her Broadway credits include "Kiss Me Kate," "The Pajama Game," "Kismet," "Jimmy," "Hannah - 1939," and "Legs Diamond" (for which she received a Tony nomination). In London's West End she created the role of Bianca in "Kiss Me Kate," and starred in "South Pacific," "Bet Your Life," and "Bells Are Ringing." She has also appeared in London's major supper clubs.

Many of her albums are considered collector's items and include: "Julie Wilson Sings the Stephen Sondheim Songbook," "The Cole Porter Songbook," "Live at the Russian Tea Room," and "My Old Flame." Her story is told in a recent book by Debra Grace Winer entitled "The Night and the Music" Rosemary Clooney, Barbara Cook and Julie Wilson Ò Inside the World of Cabaret."

Located in the heart of Chelsea, one of Manhattan's most popular and trendy communities, the newly expanded and newly decorated 70-seat Hideaway Room @ Helen's is located inside HELEN'S RESTAURANT, CABARET & PIANO LOUNGE. It features one of the finest state of the art lighting and sound systems designed by Shane Mathews. The Club is located on the site that was formerly Judy's Chelsea, which closed in March 2003.

Helen's American menu with international nuances features delicious home-style specialties and irresistible desserts. The kitchen will remain open until midnight on weekdays, and 1:00 am on weekends. Dinner reservations are suggested.
