THE QUEEN OF SWING KEELY SMITH RETURNS TO FEINSTEIN'S

FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 1-212-339-4095 - http://www.feinsteinsattheregency.com/ ) will return to the heyday of Las Vegas when "The Queen of Swing" Keely Smith opens her show "LAS VEGAS '58" on May 18th, running through June 5th. Keely will recreate her fabulous nights on the strip with her husband and musical partner Louis Prima. She will be joined by a nine-piece big band with musical direction by Dennis Michaels. The show will play the following schedule: Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8:30 pm with late shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00 pm. All shows have a $60 cover and $30 minimum.

In "LAS VEGAS '58" Keely performs her hits ("I Wish You Love") and the songs of the late Louis Prima ("When You're Smiling"), as well as their famous duets ("Just A Gigolo," "That Old Black Magic"). New orchestrations have been commissioned to echo the blazing sound of the strip. The Regency chefs have planned an elaborate menu to replicate the big Vegas nights on the town.

In the late 50s, Keely and Louis ‚ recognized as the top nightclub act in the country ‚ would perform six shows a night starting at 12:00 Midnight in the Sahara Hotel's Casbar Lounge. They would entertain the biggest names in show business, from Frank Sinatra, John F. Kennedy and Spencer Tracey to Natalie Wood, Elvis Presley and Howard Hughes. Now, in "Las Vegas '58," Keely will revisit the extraordinary nights in that infamous city.

Keely Smith has enjoyed incredible popularity, commercial success and historic achievement throughout a career that has spanned nearly half a century. She is one of America's greatest living balladeers, the First Lady of Las Vegas and an icon of the swing era. Most recently, the revival of the swing movement introduced a whole new generation to the excitement and fun of her music. In the late 90s, The Gap retail chain was inspired to use Louis Prima's signature tune, "Jump, Jive and Wail" in one of its popular ad campaigns. Keely began her career as the female singer in Prima's band, and later became famous as one half of their hugely successful Las Vegas lounge act. Now, with recent smash engagements around the country, her performance career continues to thrive. Her classic recordings, including I Wish You Love (a Grammy Award nominated gold album with Nelson Riddle) and Politely with the Billy May orchestra, have been featured in films such as The Deer Hunter, Raging Bull, Analyze This and Mad Dog & Glory.

Her latest CD on Concord Records, Keely Swings Basie-StyleÖWith Strings, is the third in a series of recordings that honor men who have had a tremendous effect on, and personal connection to, Keely's life. Her 2000 Concord debut, Swing, Swing, Swing, was an unofficial testament to her former husband and performing partner, Louis Prima. Its successor, Keely Sings Sinatra, earned her a Grammy Award nomination for "Best Traditional Pop" CD in 2001.
