Singer/songwriter
and definite Diva Lina Koutrakos's music is rooted in her nomadic
upbringing as a Navy brat and her Greek heritage. Lina is an adult
artist who has a little bit of all people in her eyes as well as in
her voice. She bridges a gap we didn't know existed until we experience
her live. Koutrakos sings with amazing spirit, incredible energy,
and possibly most exciting, the heart that accompanies a God-given
talent.
Lina was
a frequent headliner at New York City's world-renowned Bottom Line,
which closed its doors earlier this year. This amazingly powerful
rock/pop/blues band has played to rave reviews in most of the top
rock venues throughout Manhattan. She has received a feature, 2 singles
reviews, and various photo "blurbs" in BILLBOARD MAGAZINE, features
in Mode and Soap Opera Digest and hundreds of rave, high profile reviews.
Her band has garnered fans the likes of Meryl Streep, Kathleen Turner
and Gregory Hines. In the process of recording their second album,
their debut CD Leave A Little Something has become a best seller.
Her original material is being played on national TV and radio.
Koutrakos'
unique, powerful and emotive voice is featured in the acclaimed America
Undercover HBO documentary "Telling Nicholas". She wraps this moving
9/11 film in her own sensitive and soulful layer with her rendition
of it's heartrending closing theme song.
As a songwriter-Koutrakos
was chosen out of over 250 applicants to be part of ASCAPS Advanced
songwriting workshop and has already received amazing reviews on a
andful of her original pop/rock songs. As a lyricist she uses words
to paint pictures as easily as she can spin music into "hooks" you
will not stop singing. As Diva she was the winner of the of MAC (Manhattan
Association of Cabarets & Clubs - http://www.macnyc.com/ ) Award,
The Village Voices Award for Best Rock Newcomer and France's Petite
