Lucille
Carr-Kaffashan opens her new cabaret show, "Both Sides Now," on October
1st at MAMA ROSE'S (219 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-533-0558 - http://www.mamaroses.net/
). Along with her talented musical director and accompanist, David
Brunetti, Lucille will appear at for four performances: Friday, October
1st at 7:00 pm; Saturday, October 2nd at 4:00 pm; Friday, October
8th at 7:00 pm; and Sunday, October 10th at 4 pm. With direction by
Lennie Watts, and arrangements by Mr. Brunetti, "Both Sides Now" includes
a mix of material that reflects Lucille's perspective on the many
sides of human experience. There is a $12 music charge ($6
for MAC members and for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members) and
a 2-drink minimum.
The program celebrates
a diverse group of composers and lyricists, from such writers of standards
as George & Ira Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, Comden & Green, Peggy Lee,
and Lerner & Loewe, to more contemporary singer-songwriters, such
as Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Charles Aznavour.
Lucille's most recent
cabaret outing, the critically acclaimed "Young @ Heart," had a successful
run throughout 2003 at DON'T TELL MAMA in NYC, The CABARET AT ODETTE'S
in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and THE MEADOWS in New Jersey. Since 1999,
Lucille has presented five different shows at cabaret clubs in New
York City, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, has been a featured performer
at REGENTS in NYC, and has performed in a number of special cabaret
productions, including the Odette's 15th Anniversary Show and Ruby
Rims' Annual TeddyCare Show.
Born in Brooklyn and raised
on Long Island, Lucille grew up listening to the stories woven by
folk music, Italian arias, musical theater songs, and the works of
singer-songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, and James
Taylor. While her early vocal training was primarily classical, with
a focus on Italian and French arias and art songs, Lucille's cabaret
work celebrates the Great American Songbook - both classic and contemporary.
Drawn to expressive voices, beautiful melodies, and heartfelt lyrics,
Lucille has found her artistic home on the cabaret stage.
