
OPENING
OF NEW NYC MUSIC VENUE ANNOUNCED - LIVE AT OPIA

April 12th
will mark the opening of another new cabaret venue in Manhattan, LIVE
AT OPIA (130 East 57th Street, NYC - 212-688-3939 - http://www.opiarestaurant.com/
). The 130-seat club is located next to the popular OPIA restaurant,
bar, and lounge, and is a collaboration between Antoine Blech, Frederick
Lesort, and Lionel Casseroux. Blech and Lesort, are the names behind
Opia, Frederick's Bar, The Lemon, Jour et Nuit, and Orienta, all of
New York City. Casseroux, the producer for Live at Opia, has created,
produced, and worked with some of the city's most popular nightspots,
including The Supper Club, Blue Room, and the King Kong Room. Beginning
on April 17th, LIVE AT OPIA will feature a regular schedule of three
shows per evening, Saturday through Monday, each with a specific world
theme.
Performers
booked on a rotating schedule include such New York luminaries as
Sandra Reeves-Phillips, John Wallowitch, Natalie Douglas, James Blood,
Ulmer Heritage, Rene McLean, Gino Sitson, Richard Bona, Julie Budd,
Billy Porter, Chester Gregory, Eric Jordan Young, BJ Crosby, Lilias
White, Peggi Blu, Melissa Morgan and Allyson Williams.
Nine themes
make up the weekly three-days series. On Saturdays, 8:00 pm - Blues
and All that Jazz; 10:00 pm - World Music; 11:30 pm - Flava Lounge.
On Sundays, 7:00 pm - Classic Cabaret; 9:00 pm - Classic Cabaret Part
Deux; 10:30 pm - Producer's Surprise. On Mondays, 7:00 pm - A&R Peep
Show/Talent Showcase; 9:00 pm - Soul and R & B; 10:30 pm - Soul Jam.
Intimate,
inviting, and stimulating - seating for each show at LIVE AT OPIA
will be limited to 120 guests. Entrance fees vary based on the show
and performer. A full bar, wine bar, special lounge menu, and nightly
prix-fixe supper will be available. In addition, the full menu is
available seven nights a week in the adjacent main dining room and
lounge of OPIA. For those who yearn for the smoky jazz clubs and cabarets
of the past, smoking is permitted on three outdoor verandas overlooking
57th Street.
