WALLOWITCH, ISENGART, CROSBY & OTHERS HEADLINE THE NEW LIVE AT OPIA SCHEDULELINE

LIVE AT OPIA (130 East 57th Street, NYC - 212-688-3939 - http://www.opiarestaurant.com/ ), New York City's newest and most intimate venue to enjoy live music Saturday through Monday nights, announces its premier schedule with a great lineup of talent that includes such luminaries as John Wallowitch, BJ Crosby, Chester Gregory, and Daniel Isengart, Toby Parker, and newest sensation, Vickie Natale. Seating for each show at LIVE AT OPIA is limited to 120 guests. Cover varies (most shows $25.00 per person plus $20 food/beverage per person). A full bar, lounge menu, and nightly prix-fixe supper are available.

Beginning April 17th, LIVE AT OPIA will follow a regular schedule of three shows per evening, each with a specific theme. New York cabaret legend and songwriter (over 2,000 songs under his belt), John Wallowitch, has found a new home - he will become a regular mainstay every Sunday at 7:00 pm. Other highlights in the schedule include:

Daniel Isengart - Sunday, April 18th and 25th at 9:00 pm. One of New York's most acclaimed resident European performers (BAM, Cafe Sabarsky), brings his smash hit one man show, Liederabend, which has puzzled critics and enamored audiences in Berlin. Expect an unforgettable evening with eccentric interpretations of songs by Grace Jones, Tom Waits, Peggy Lee, and some of Isengart's signature French and German chansons.

BJ Crosby - Monday, April 19th and 26th, and May 10th at 9:00 pm. Fresh from her star turn as "Momma" in Chicago, the irrepressible BJ Crosby will dazzle with her show-stopping voice and range. BJ loves to sing the blues, stylize the standards, and funk it up with R&B. YouÇve also seen her bring down the house in Smokey Joe's Cafe, Dreamgirls, and Harlem Song.

Chester Gregory - Monday, April 26th at 7:00 pm. Making his Broadway debut in Hairspray!, this Gary, Indiana native received numerous awards for his portrayal of Jackie Wilson in the three-year run on the Jackie Wilson Story which closed at the world-famous Apollo Theatre. Other credits include Soul of Black Music (Black Ensemble, London), ScapinÇ (Court Theatre), Drowing Crow (Goodman), and Disney's Lion King Master Classes. Gregory's five octave range has been compared to that of Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Jackie Wilson.

Vickie Natale - Monday, May 3rd, two shows, 7:00 and 9:00 pm. Following a stunning performance and winning the title of grand champion on the CBS show Star Search, Natale, a Brooklyn native, has just signed a recording contract with Sony records. Her sultry voice, which has been coined the "little Aretha" by Nick Ashford, harkens back to the old school but has a refreshing new school flava.

Toby Parker - Sunday, May 9th, 16th, and 23rd, 9:00 pm. Toby Parker's beautiful and engaging voice, fresh and natural delivery, and supple and confident style fines the sweet-spots in the pops and standards. Born into a talented hard-working family (brother Pippin, and sister Sarah Jessica) Toby began performing as a youngster. His credits range from work on Broadway in Rent to his current work on television on NBC's Law and Order.

Other upcoming performers in the lineup include:

LaTanya Hall - Monday, May 24th at 7:00 pm.
Wallace and Gary - Monday, May 24th at 9:00 pm.

Soon to be announced performers include: Sandra Reeves-Phillips, Natalie Douglas, James Blood Ulmer Heritage, Rene McLean, Gino Sitson, Richard Bona, Julie Budd, Billy Porter, Eric Jordan Young, Lilias White, Peggi Blu, Melissa Morgan, and Allyson Williams.

For those who long for the smoky jazz clubs and cabarets of the past, smoking is permitted on three convenient outdoor verandas overlooking 57th Street.
