"THE FIRST FAMILY OF COOL" RETURNS TO FEINSTEIN'S

PERFORMING "BOSSA NOVA" WITH GUESTS DANIEL JOBIM, BUCKY PIZZARELLI and JESSICA MOLASKEY

FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 1-212-339-4095 - http://www.feinsteinsattheregency.com/ ) will present the return engagement of "The First Family of Cool," THE PIZZARELLI FAMILY, in their new show "Bossa Nova" from June 8th through 20th. The John Pizzarelli Trio, featuring Ray Kennedy on piano and Martin Pizzarelli on bass, will be joined by guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, singer Jessica Molaskey and Daniel Jobim, the grandson of composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. The show will play the following schedule: Tuesday through Saturday at 8:30 p, with late shows on Friday and Saturday at 11:00 pm. All shows have a $60 cover and $30 minimum.

The show is based on Pizzarelli's fifth Telarc CD, Bossa Nova, which features a wide variety of music ranging from brash to introverted, and includes Brazilian standards and recently composed songs. Bossa Nova overflows with highlights including Antonio Carlos Jobim songs "One Note Samba," "The Girl from Ipanema," "Waters of March" and "Desafinado"; a jaunty reading of Gershwin's "Fascinating Rhythm"; Pizzarelli originals, "Francesca" and "Soares Samba"; and fresh interpretations of James Taylor's top 40 hit "Your Smiling Face" and Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim's "I Remember." Bossa nova is the most personal and international of Brazil's musical forms. Its "cool" aesthetic ‚ with its gentle rhythms, rich harmonies and seductive delivery ‚ is a perfect match for Pizzarelli's smooth and casual style.

John Pizzarelli has cultivated a winning career singing classic standards and late-night ballads, and by playing sublime and inventive guitar. Using greats like Nat "King" Cole and Frank Sinatra and the songs of writers like Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen as touchstones, Pizzarelli is among the prime revivalists of the great American songbook, bringing to his work the cool jazz flavor of his brilliant guitar playing.

He has been playing since the age of 6, following in the tradition of his father, guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli. In 1999, the Trio was featured in the Steve Martin / Goldie Hawn comedy The Out of Towners, performing "That Old Black Magic." A TV commercial for Foxwoods Casino has made Mr. Pizzarelli a recognizable face. The group tours throughout the United States, Europe and Japan performing classic pop, jazz and swing standards. In October 2003, Pizzarelli led a 40-piece orchestra at New York's Radio City Music Hall in a live theatrical stage production of Sinatra: His Voice, His World, His Way.
