DARYL SHERMAN AT PIZZA IN THE PARK FOR 2-WEEK ENGAGEMENT

Daryl Sherman will perform at Larry's Music Room at PIZZA ON THE PARK (11 Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, London - 020-7235-5273 - http://www.pizzaonthepark.co.uk/ ), Wednesdays through Saturdays, October 20th through 23rd and 72th through 30th. She will be joined by guitarist Jon Wheatley and Dave Green on bass. Doors open 7:30 pm and there will be two sets, at 9:15 pm and 10:45 pm. Call the club for reservations and cover/minimum information.

A sparkling presence and mainstay of Manhattan nightlife, she regularly performs on Cole Porter's Steinway at the COCKTAIL TERRACE at The Waldorf Astoria (Park Ave & 49th Street, NYC - 212-355-3000) and has been lauded for appearances at the Algonquin's Famous Oak Room and most recently, Jazz At Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis. Last year's European tour included a dazzling third return engagement at London's Pizza On The Park, and concerts in Wales, Leeds and Scotland. She also made a stunning debut in Berlin.

Equally at home in the worlds of jazz and cabaret, Daryl Sherman's recordings have received high critical praise and airplay. Her CD, Jubilee (Arbors) with Dave McKenna received four stars in Downbeat and was cited one of the year's best (2000). Later this year Sherman will resume the Bailey role in concerts at Lincoln Center and Spokane, Washington. Ruby Braff chose Daryl to interpret two of his own songs on his last recordings and guested on her recent salute to Richard Rodgers, A Hundred Million Miracles (Arbors).

Major jazz festival appearances include JVC in New York and Newport, Atlanta, March of Jazz in Clearwater, and aboard the QE2. She has headlined clubs including the Colony in Palm Beach, Blues Alley in Washington, DC, the Jazz Bakery in LA, and Top of the Senator in Toronto. She is a favourite at the Mabel Mercer Foundation Cabaret Conventions in NYC, San Francisco and Chicago, and recently presented with Cabaret Classic Award. She has also been a featured guest on Fresh Air with Terry Gross and Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz all broadcast nationally.

JON WHEATLEY is Professor of Guitar at Berklee College of Music, has performed with Donna Byrne, Dave McKenna, Herb Pomeroy and of course Ruby Braff, with whom he also recorded on Ruby Braff Live At The Regattabar. Jon's own recording, Guitar On The Loose, recorded at Pizza on the Park last year by Dave Bennett, includes tracks recorded with Ruby and Daryl.

Undoubtedly one of the UK's premier bassists, DAVE GREEN turned professional in 1963 with the Don Rendell/Ian Carr Quintet. Always first call for visiting performers, Dave has played and recorded with just about everyone, including Stan Tracey, Benny Goodman, Sonny Rollins, Zoot Sims, Roland Kirk, Coleman Hawkins, Scott Hamilton and Charlie Watts Quintet and Big Band.
