SIMEONE SINGS MATHIS AT EAGLES DARE

2004 MAC Award-winning vocal phenomenon Marcus Simeone returns to New York's small stages in a special one-show-only appearance, entitled "MATHIS: A Tribute to the Legendary Johnny Mathis," at EAGLES DARE THEATRE (347 West 36th Street, NYC - 212-858-4444 - http://www.smarttix.com/) on Saturday, September 25th. He will be accompanied by musical director Michael Sansonia, and joined by guest vocalist Eva Ladas. Show time is 4:30 pm and there will be a wine and cheese reception following the performance.Tickets are $25 at the door, $20 in advance.

In this show, Marcus' first tribute of any kind, he covers not only one of the great influences on his own work, but one of the most enduring concert and recording artists of all time. "Answer Me," "Wonderful, Wonderful," "Misty," "There Goes My Heart," "It's Not For Me To Say," and "Chances Are" are among the towering hits which Johnny Mathis has enjoyed over more than five decades as a chart-topping icon. Marcus will bring his own special magic to the songs Johnny made famous, as well as offer a personal homage to the man for whom Columbia Records pioneered the "greatest hits" album, now an industry tradition. Johnny Mathis, who began his career on small stages in San Francisco and New York, continues to sell out Radio City Music Hall and still holds the record for continuous weeks (490) of being on the Billboard Top Albums Chart.

Since his sensational cabaret debut in January of 2000, Marcus has emerged as one of the most celebrated singers to grace the stages of Manhattan's nightclubs since the days of Streisand and the Bon Soir. Winner of the 2003 Bistro Award, and 2004 MAC Award, he is universally regarded for his heart-wrenching interpretations of ballads, red-hot jazz sensibility, and powerful pop flair. Earlier in his career, this native of Brooklyn appeared on the original Star Search as well as Showtime at The Apollo.
