SPOTLIGHT ON AWARDS AT TRIAD SEPTEMBER 26th

Spotlight On Productions (http://www.spotlighton.org/) announces that the annual Spotlight On Awards (for Off-Off-Broadway Excellence) will be held at the THE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-787-7921 - http://www. Triadnyc.com/ ) on Sunday, September 26th. Doors will open at 6:00 pm, with hors d'oeuvres served; and entertainment and award presentations will commence at 6:30 pm. Dress is formal. Audience seating is limited to 130 individuals on a "first come/ first served" basis. The ceremony will last two hours. Tickets are $12 each (in advance), plus a two drink minimum. Nominees include Baby Jane Dexter (will also entertain this night), Broadway's Hunter Gilmore, and members of the American Theatre Wing Outreach Program, such as the cast of "Three Broads Singing to Beat the Blues." Nominations were derived from productions seen in the 2003/2004 season at several venues in New York. Originally, the "Spotties" were designed to recognize excellence in just one company's season. However, recently, the awards have been growing to incorporate the core company's members when they work elsewhere. These nominations are representative of approximately 40 full-length productions and over 40 one-acts and shorter works over 12 months.

The Spotlight On Awards were originally conceived to recognize the craft of artists whom may be beneath the radar, hidden in the Off-Off-Broadway scene. One may note many uncommon categories, such as Best Cameo, best postcard, and Best Ensemble, as well as the usual design, acting, directing and writing areas. The 15 voters are comprised of a mixture of Spotlight On members and strangers recruited just for this venture. For a full list of nominations, visit http://www.spotlighton.org/.
