MAXIM'S HOLDS BASTILLE DAY CELEBRATION

To celebrate Bastille Day, June 14th, The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs presents a program starring vocalist Claudia Hommel and violinist Johnny Frigo at MAXIM'S (24 East Goethe Street, Chicago, IL - Tickets: 312-742-1748). As a replica of the famed, Maxim's de Paris, Chicago's Maxim's offers a historic setting for a Bastille Day celebration that includes a magnificent gourmet French dinner prepared by brilliant young chef Eric Wicklund of The Whitehall Hotel. Showtime is 7:00 pm. The supper and show is $75.

The evening's repertoire is a reprise of songs made famous by the great French chanteuse, Edith Piaf, featuring some favorite Piaf songs, including "Non, je ne regrette rien," "Padam, padam", "L'accordeoniste" and "La vie en rose," while introducing songs made popular by Yves Montand, Charles Trenet, and the Parisian music hall. Claudia Hommel and Johnny Frigo will be joined by Bob Moreen on piano and Jim Cox on bass.

This program is sponsored by the Chicago Office of Tourism and presented as part of Stirring Things Up in Chicago, the citywide initiative that features a delicious, exotic, eclectic mixture of the culinary, visual, performing and literary arts from May 1 through October 31, 2005.
