SWEETEST OF NIGHTS WITH KAREN MASON AT THE ENCORE
Broadway and cabaret star Karen Mason will celebrate the release of her latest recording, "The Sweetest Of Nights," with a 2-week Thursday through Monday run at THE ENCORE (266 West 47th Street, NYC - 212-221-3960 - http://www.theencorenyc.com/ ). The show opens on Thursday, October 27th and runs through Monday, November 7th, with all shows starting at 9:00 pm, except Friday shows at 7:00 pm.

"The Sweetest Of Nights" will include performances from new CD, including standards like "My Foolish Heart," "Let's Face The Music and Dance," "Almost Like Being In Love," and "The Winner Takes It All," from Mamma Mia!, the Broadway hit in which Karen starred. Christopher Denny, who arranged much of the recording, will serve as musical director for the evening.

Karen originated the role of Tanya in ABBA's Mamma Mia! (2002 Drama Desk nomination) on Broadway. She also played the starring role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, which she performed to critical acclaim on Broadway and in Los Angeles for three years.

Karen Mason recently starred in You Might As Well Live, a one-person play about Dorothy Parker, as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival. The production is directed by Guy Stroman, with book and music by Norman Mathews and lyrics by Dorothy Parker.

Other Broadway credits include Jerome Robbins' Broadway, Play Me A Country Song and Torch Song Trilogy. Off-Broadway credits include Carnival (1993 Drama Desk Nomination), And The World Goes 'Round (Outer Critics Circle Award) and Karen Mason Sings Broadway, Beatles and Brian.

An eight-time MAC Award winner, Ms. Mason won the 2005 MAC for Major Female Vocalist of the Year. She has headlined at numerous venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and New Jersey Performing Arts Center. She has shared concert stages with Luciano Pavarotti, Rosemary Clooney, Liza Minnelli, Michael Feinstein, Jerry Herman, John Kander & Fred Ebb, among others.
