IT'S ABOUT TIME ALREADY FOR LUA HADAR WITH TRIO OF WEST COAST
SHOWS
"It's about Time, already!" That's the title of Lua Hadar's new one-woman
show with the sensational Jason Martineau Jazz Trio. The 2-act show,
a release for her recording, "It's about Time," is a humorous and
heartfelt view from the bridge at the "middle third" of life. The
show debuts Friday, October 7th at 8:00 pm at San Francisco's legendary
North Beach club, THE PURPLE ONION (240 Columbus Avenue, San Francisco,
CA - Resv: 415-520-9933).
Laced with her New York Jewish humor and featuring original songs,
jazz standards & musical theater, Lua reveals herself as a woman who
has lived and is ready to sing and joke about it. Musical Director:
Jason Martineau; Stage Director: Robert Weinapple; Special Choreography
by Jason Emanuel Britton. $20 cash door cover and 2-drink minimum.
For dinner at CAFFE MACARONI (upstairs) before or after show, call
415-217-8400. The tour continues with an October 15th performance
at RAINBOW ROOM at the DEPOT (806 Fourth Street, Napa, CA - 707-252-447)
and November 4th show at LARKSPUR CAFE & THEATER (500 Magnolia Avenue,
Larkspur, CA - 415-924-6107).
Both as a soloist and founding member of The Kitchenettes vocal trio,
Lua Hadar has performed across North America and Europe, including
The Empire Plush Room and Napa's Copia. Since 2004, she has been a
performer and "producer-in-residence" at San Francisco's famous beat-generation
nightclub, The Purple Onion.
Both chanteuse and comedienne, Lua trained in her
native New York at the renowned Neighborhood Playhouse School of
the Theater and also in master classes at the Metropolitan Opera,
She bends her rich and agile voice around original material, jazz
standards and show tunes with power and grace, taking her listeners
on a terrific ride. Dubbed "the Harpo Marx of Cabaret" by esteemed
San Francisco theatre and opera director, Robert Weinapple, Lua
is known and loved for her wacky and witty comedy as she is for
her intimate ballads.
