SERIES AT THE H STREET PLAYHOUSE
THEATER ALLIANCE CABARET
SERIES at the H STREET PLAYHOUSE (1365 H Street, NE, Washington, DC

) opens its season on Saturday, August 19th at 8:00 pm with THE MUSIC
OF STEPHEN SCHWARTZ. Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz the show is
conceived and directed by Michael J. Bobbitt with arrangements by John
L. Cornelius, II and musical direction by Doug Bowles. Featured vocalists
are Priscilla Cuellar, Erin Driscoll, Eleasha Gamble, Isaiah Johnson,
and Phil Olarte. The show will present hip, young, downtown and new
arrangements of songs by Tony nominated, Oscar Winning composer, Stephen
Schwartz (WICKED, GODSPELL, PRINCE OF EYGYPT). This show celebrates
the songs in which Mr. Schwartz wrote the music AND the lyrics. Tickets
are $15.
The Season of Cabaret Excitement continues with THE WOMEN OF TIN PAN
ALLEY on September 30th, which explores the music created by the talented
women who played an important role in shaping America's musical landscape
during the first half of the 20th century. This journey features vocalists
Joanne Schmoll, Rob McQuay, Jim Breen, and Judy Simmons.
The third show of the series is SONDHEIM TONIGHT! on April 21st. Local
DC sensation Judy Simmons performs her newest cabaret for Theater Alliance's
audience, celebrating the lush, range defying, intricate, complicated
melodies, and the intelligent, eviscerating lyrics that lay bare the
souls of the characters in Mr. Stephen Sondheim's musicals.
