RITT HENN: A MAN AND HIS BASS IN BRIDGEPORT
New York-based Singer/Songwriter/Bass Player Ritt Henn heads to the
BLACK ROCK ARTS CENTER (2838 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT - 203-367-7917
-
http://www.internationalperformingarts.com/
) on Friday, April 6th at 8:00 pm to bring his music and special brand
of humor back home (he's an alumnus of Ludlowe High School in Fairfield).
Backed by Bennett Paster on keyboard and "Brother Jeremiah" Jay Frederick
on drums, Ritt will present two sets of his original music starting
at 8:00 PM. Barbara Brussell, a luminary on the New York City cabaret
scene, will make an appearance as Special Guest "Diva du Jour."
Ritt was still in high school when he started playing
the coffeehouse circuit. After college, he polished his craft working
as a sideman with Buddy Rich, Chuck Berry, and Tom Jones. He whistled
for Michael Jackson, opened for Soupy Sales and Christine Lavin,
and toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe, where he performed
on the main stage of the world famous Pori Jazz Festival in Finland.
Although he is growing in demand as a solo performer,
he continues to work with other musicians both by choice and to
allow himself to pursue his many interests: songwriting, recording
and producing his 3 CDs (so far), acting, and producing nearly 200
hilarious 28-minute TV episodes of "A Man, a Bass a Box of Stuff."
ManBassBox has aired on public access TV in Los Angeles and New
York since 1993, focusing on independent musical artists. Ritt Henn
has just received a nomination for the prestigious Manhattan Association
of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award for Singer/Songwriter of 2007.
In 2005, he won the MAC award for Best NYC Debut/Male, and Back
Stage magazine's Bistro Award for Outstanding Songwriter/Instrumentalist.
Watch for his about-to-be-released third CD, Timber.
His great song, House in the Country, just may be his breakout crossover
single; a perfect blend of jazz, blues and country, delivered with
heart and soul and a great bass line.
