K.T. SINGS KITT IN A TRIBUTE TO EARTHA KITT
Award-winning cabaret singer K.T McCammond, accompanied by the fabulous
pianist Bob Moreen, pays tribute to the immortal Eartha Kitt in a program
titled K.T. Sings KITT at MAXIM'S at The Nancy Goldberg International
Center (24 East Goethe Street, Chicago, IL - Tickets: 312-742-1748)
on Wednesday, January 17th at 7:00 pm. The remarkable performances of
Eartha Kitt are recreated in a program that reprises the many songs
that she made famous and a few not so well known pieces.
The performance is presented by the Chicago Department
of Cultural Affairs as part of "Play On Cabaret," a monthly musical
series showcasing the Great American Songbook.
K.T. Sings KITT tells Eartha's life story from her
teenage years in the acclaimed Katherine Dunham Dance Troupe and her
tumultuous explosion onto the American music scene in the stage and
film productions of New Faces of 1952 and her growing fame on stage,
screen and television as a cabaret sex kitten and Batman's "Cat Woman."
Among the songs in the show are "Back in Business," by Stephen Sondheim;
"Sell Me," by Bart Howard; "Nobody Taught Me," by Leonard Feather;
"The Day the Circus Left Town," by Carolyn Leigh and Harold Spina;
"Monotonous," by June Carroll and Arthur Seigel; "LÍHomme (The Heel)"
by Leo Ferre; "Old Fashioned Girl: A Woman WouldnÍt be a Woman," by
Joe Darion and George Kleinsinger; "IÍd Rather Be Burned as a Witch,"
by Betty Garrett and Gerald Dolin; "An Englishman Needs Time," by
Michael Treford/Anne DeNys; "Uska Dara," a traditional Turkish folk
song; "Apres Moi" by Bernie Bennett; "LovinÍ Spree" and "I Wanchya
Around," by Javits and Springer/Merrill; "Lilac Wine," by James Shelton;
"Mink Shmink," by Sid Cutner and Leo Shuken; "I Want to be Evil,"
by Raymond Taylor / Lester Judson.
