CONVERSATIONS WITH EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE AT MAXIM'S MARCH 14TH
The glory years of Chicago nightclubs will be the topic when legendary songbird Audrey Morris and Rick ("Dr. Night Life") Kogan get together for "Conversations with Extraordinary People" at MAXIM'S at The Nancy Goldberg International Center (24 East Goethe Street, Chicago, IL - Tickets: 312-742-1748) in Wednesday March 14th at 6:00 pm.

A self-described "saloon singer" Audrey is considered an icon by CCP (Chicago Cabaret Professionals - http://www.chicagocabaret.org/ ) who honored her with its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. Her career reads like a history of Chicago cabaret. She's performed at such 20th century bistros as Mister Kelly's, the Embers, Yvette, and Toulouse, as well as Maxim's. Following her conversation with Rick Kogan, Audrey will sing her favorite songs to recreate a 1960s evening at Maxim's.

The host of "Conversations with Extraordinary People," Rick Kogan is senior writer and "Sidewalks" columnist for the Chicago Tribune Sunday Magazine. He also hosts WGN's "Sunday Papers with Rick Kogan" (6:30 - 9:00 am Sundays, 720 am). A newspaper man since age 16 when he wrote his first story for the Chicago Sun-Times, he was a reporter for the Chicago Daily News where he authored a weekly nightlife column, later collected in a book, Dr. Night Life's Chicago. He joined the Chicago Tribune in the 1980s where he was TV critic for five years and later the editor of Tempo, the Tribune's daily feature section. A captivating storyteller, Kogan has written ten books, including two published in 2006: A Chicago Tavern: A Goat, A Curse and the American Dream and Sidewalks: Portraits of Chicago. Both books will be available for sale and signing.

"Conversations with Extraordinary People" is a regular program series presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and sponsored by The Whitehall Hotel and Fornetto Mei Restaurant. It is taped before a live audience for rebroadcast at 9:00 pm on Cable 25.

Tickets are $20. Refreshments, courtesy of The Whitehall Hotel and Fornetto Mei, will be served.
