DEANNA NEIL DEBUTS NEW SHOW AT THE BATTERSEA BARGE IN MAY
Nocturnal themes are explored in ENTER NIGHT: Songs of Dreams and Nightmares, the London debut of New York performer Deanna Neil, with musical direction by Michael Ferreri. ENTER NIGHT will play at BATTERSEA BARGE (Riverside Walk, Nine Elms Lane, London - 020 7498 004 - http://www.batterseabarge.com/ ) on Tuesday May 22nd at 9:00 pm, and Monday, May 28th at 8:00 pm. The show is approximately an hour. Food and drink available.

As we slip into sleep, it can be a sweet sanctuary or a sanitorium. Dreams take us where the subconscious drives and we are helpless in the hands of the sandman. The theme of dreams, good and bad, is the pillowcase around this show. The title comes from Metallica's "Enter Sandman", and the show cycles from gentle lullabyes to to seductive selections for lovers to outright nightmare numbers. Optimistic to ominous, the songs in ENTER NIGHT reflect moods at bedtime.

Deanna Neil, a singer, actress and writer, is a self-professed "sleep addict" who has always been fascinated with sleep and dreams. Her ongoing exploration of nocturnal themes has created previous incarnations of this show, performed in New York at Don't Tell Mama and The Tank. Her three-octave voice covers as much range as the musical genres in ENTER NIGHT.

Songs include Billy Joel's child-soothing "Lullabye" as well as Tom Waits' more unnerving "Lullabye", The Beatles mellow' "Golden Slumbers", Aerosmith's wailing hard rock "Dream On" and the Tiger Lillies cheerfully morbid waltz "Snip, Snip" (from Shockheaded Peter) which Deanna delivers operatically, playing all the parts of thumb-sucking Conrad, his mother and The Scissorman.

Call for cover/minimum information.
