ABI ROBERTS GETS HER HITS OUT IN EDINBURGH
Abi Roberts' one woman show Abi Roberts Gets Her Hits Out celebrates the golden age of entertainment with a true 21st century twist! She will appear as part of the Edinburgh Fringe at HOLYROOD TOO @ FAITH (207 Cowgate, Edinburgh, Scotland - 07947 697 987 - http://www.rarebirdsprod.com/HolyroodToo.html ) August 3rd through 26th at 3:45 pm. Abi sings, she tells jokes, she does impersonations. She is said to have the wit of Lucille Ball, the allure of Mae West, the lyricism of Victoria Wood, the voice of Barbra Streisand and the self-control of Amy Winehouse. The divine Miss A should delight Fringe audiences this summer with true stories and surprising songs in a show that probably will make headlines!

Hits ranges from a barnstorming East End 2012 Olympics anthem to hilarious tales of Swansea University, the Moscow Conservatoire, growing up with a father who played guitar with the Beatles, why she wants to be black and why she hates jazz but loves Take That. Abi's 'voices' include Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Tyler, Margaret Thatcher, Marge Simpson and - having shared the same voice coach - she does a spot-on Princess Di. Hits also features Abi's own take on well-loved covers plus highlights from her own song-book.

Roberts started her stand-up career in 2006. Abi began her musical career after studying voice with Bella Rudenko of the Bolshoi Opera at the Moscow Conservatoire. On graduating from The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School her comic talent won her the prestigious Peter Akerman Award for Comedy with fellow comedian Tom Verrall.

Abi won critical acclaim at the Assembly Rooms in the one woman play Taking Charlie at the 2004 Edinburgh Festival which featured her own songs. The show, directed by ex-East Ender Susan Tully, was written for her by award-winning writer Jonathan Harvey (Beautiful Thing and Gimme, Gimme). Her return to the Fringe in 2006 in ensemble stand-up show About as Funny as it Gets saw reviewers deem her "a master impersonator."
