POLAND'S ASTONISHING YOUNG JAZZ SINGER AGA ZARYAN AT JOE'S PUB
Poland's emerging jazz star Aga Zaryan is coming back to the USA with a concert at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - Tele-Charge: 1-212-239-6200 - Box Office: 212-539-8778 - http://www.joespub.com/ ) on Thursday, January 11th at 7:00 pm. The concert is presented by the Polish Cultural Institute in New York. Ms. Zaryan will perform on a double bill with the amazing Gretchen Parlato.

In March 2006 Aga recorded her second album Pickung Up the Pieces with Darek 'Oles' Oleszkiewicz (the music producer of the project), Larry Koonse, Munyungo Jackson, and Nolan Shaheed. The album got rave reviews in Poland. At JOE'S PUB Í and on January 10th at BLUES ALLEY in Washington DC, Aga Zaryan, who first took Poland by storm as Agnieszka Skrzypek, is promoting her new CD with back-up by New York jazz artists Bryn Roberts on piano, Alexis Cuadrado on double bass, and Mark Ferber on drums.

Aga Zaryan graduated with honors from the Warsaw Public School of Music, and then studied under the legendary Ewa Bem in the Department of Jazz Song Studies at the Bednarska Street Music School in Warsaw. In 1998 she took second place at the International Jazz Singers Competition in Zamosc, subsequently receiving scholarships to attend two international jazz workshops in the United States Í the Stanford Jazz Workshop and Jazz Camp West, where she gained further knowledge under the instruction of such internationally recognized vocalists as Rebecca Parris and Madeline Eastman.

Her debut album, My Lullaby (2002) received great reviews in Poland, as well as Japan, where it was officially released. It was nominated for the Polish Recording Academy's "Fryderyk" Award, in the "Jazz Album of the Year" category. Since then, Aga has performed at clubs and festivals in Poland, the USA, Israel, England, and the Czech Republic. Readers of Jazz Forum magazine voted her one of the best polish jazz singers of the year
