BARB JUNGR SINGS BOB DYLAN LIVE AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
Acclaimed British singer/songwriter Barb Jungr returns to NYC for
8 performances of her show "Barb Jungr Sings Bob Dylan" at THE METROPOLITAN
ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 -
http://www.metropolitanroom.com/
), with shows scheduled for January 25th through 27th at 8:00 pm and
February 1st through 3rd at 8:00 pm, with additional shows at 10:30
pm on the January 27th and February 3rd. Barb is accompanied by virtuoso
musician, pianist and accordionist Charlie Giordano, who has recently
worked on tour and recorded with Bruce Springsteen's Grammy nominated
Pete Seeger project and whose CV includes work with Sam Moore, Pat
Benatar and Cindy Lauper, among many others.
In 2005 The Barbican (London) and BBC Television hosted
a concert to celebrate the work of Bob Dylan featuring many of the
performers who have sung his songs. In introducing Barb Jungr, Billy
Bragg stated she was "possibly the best interpreter of Bob Dylan's
songs". In this view he is not alone. On both sides of the Atlantic
and in Australia, Jungr has been wowing audiences and critics with
her astonishingly powerful reinterpretations of this great songwriter's
work.
With the release of her critically acclaimed and top
selling "Every Grain of Sand" (Linn AKD 230) in 2002, Jungr explored
Dylan's lesser known and well known repertoire exclusively. Since
that time her last three Linn Records releases have each contained
two further Dylan compositions.
Demands have increased for her to sing an evening
of exclusively Dylan material since 2002 - her three similarly-themed
shows at last year's Adelaide Cabaret festival were resounding sell-out
hits. Due to this demand Jungr has created this new show to be performed
internationally, combining her most popular interpretations with
new Dylan pieces.
