ARNALDO! DRAG CHANTEUSE MAKES NYC DEBUT
Seattle's ARNALDO! Drag Chanteuse will make his New York City debut
with his show "An Evening With Arnaldo!" at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE
(61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 -
http://www.theduplex.com/
), Saturday & Sunday, February 10th & 11th at 9:30 pm. Arnaldo started
as a soloist with the Seattle Men's Chorus and has continued to perform
with SMC in major concert halls around the US, including New York's
Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Dallas's Myerson Hall and Seattle's
Benaroya Hall; in Europe in 1998 and in Australia and New Zealand
in 2003. He will be accompanied by Paul Trueblood at the piano.
In 1995, Arnaldo combined the words "drag" and "chanteuse"
to describe his solo act that is inspired by the elegance of the
nightclub/cabaret era and the women who shaped the Great American
Songbook. Not finding a suitable drag name, a good friend suggested
just adding the "!". By 1999, Arnaldo's solo cabarets played to
SRO audiences at Thumper's in Seattle's chic, trendy Capitol Hill.
Arnaldo has since gone on to perform his one-person cabaret in Portland,
Las Vegas, Palm Springs, and Puerto Vallarta. Arnaldo has performed
and collaborates with numerous directors, choreographers and songwriters
in the Seattle area. Arnaldo attended The Cabaret Conference at
Yale University as part of the Class of 2005.
There will be a $15 music charge and a 2 drink minimum.
