), up and coming New York City singer Suzanne Carrico with Tedd Firth,
piano & Steve Doyle, bass put their own mark on the much loved songs
of Sammy Cahn with their show ART OF THE CAHN: Music from the Sammy
Cahn Songbook. Cahn's lyrics are an important part of the Great American
Songbook, including work with composers like Saul Chaplin, Jule Styne,
Nicholas Brodsky, Axel Stordahl, Paul Weston, Vernon Duke and James
Van Huesen among many others. These songs have graced the silver screen,
stage and concert halls sung by our greatest voices including Mario
Lanza, Doris Day, Jo Stafford, Bing Crosby and most prolifically the
great Frank Sinatra.
Suzanne has for some time been one of New York's rising
young opera singers, having performed twice as a Young Artist Fellow
at the Caramoor Bel Canto Festival with the Orchestra of St. Luke's.
The victim of a high-priced education, Ms. Carrico holds a Bachelor
of Music from Webster University College of Fine Arts in St. Louis,
where she was awarded the Dysart Family Prize from the Metropolitan
Opera National Council Auditions and a Masters of Music Degree from
Manhattan School of Music. Suzanne currently studies with Ashley
Putnam.
Suzanne spent a week exploring American Popular Song
at the Sundance Institute with the Mercer Foundation working with
the likes of Margaret Whiting, Melissa Manchester, Charles Strouse,
Michael Rupert, Jimmy Webb, Billy Stritch and Don Rebic. This experience
inspired Ms. Carrico to return to her roots in Musical Theatre and
American Song as a "belter" and to put together her fist cabaret
show: MR RIGHT. Her second show, OLD MOVIES brought her together
with her Music Director Tedd Firth.
Tedd Firth is a New York City based accompanist, jazz
pianist, and arranger. He has accompanied many renowned artists,
including Lee Ann Womack, Faith Prince, Tom Wopat, Margaret Whiting,
Carol Sloane, Barbara Brussell, Bob Stewart, Nancy Marano, and Claiborne
Cary. Among the jazz musicians he has worked with are John Pizzarelli,
Houston Person, Benny Golson and Joe Morello. Mr. Firth's New York
appearances include the Blue Note, Birdland, the Iridium, the Algonquin,
the Rainbow Room, and the Russian Tea Room.
There is a $20 cover, 2-drink minimum.
