ANNE KERRY FORD SING WEILL AT CAFE SABARSKY
California-based singer Anne Kerry Ford returns to CAFE SABARSKY at
the NEUE GALERIE (1048 Fifth Avenue, NYC - 212-288-0665 -
http://www.neuegalerie.org/
) on Thursday, March 15th after selling out her shows there last fall.
Ford is celebrating the release of her new CD "Weill" (the music of
Kurt Weill). She will perform selections from Weill's German and American
songbooks accompanied by John Boswell.
"Weill" presents the enormous versatility of the composer
Kurt Weil, and was recorded, for the most part, live in performance
with Westdeutscher Rundfunk's world famous 28-piece big band in
Cologne Germany's Philharmonic Hall, featuring Roger Kellaway's
brilliant arrangements. Included in the program are "Youklai", written
in 1934 after Weill went into exile to France (heard here in a rare
English translation) and "Song of The Rhineland," which has never
been recorded except by Kurt Weill and Ira Gershwin themselves.
The CD also features intimate tracks from the studio, including
"Tango Ballad," a duet with Tony-nominee Brian Lane Green.
"Weill" was produced by four-time Grammy nominee Robben
Ford. To read about Anne, or to listen to or purchase this recording
