). Of Mutts & Men is a "doggone fun" evening of song featuring Ruthie
Baker in her NY cabaret debut. The show features songs revolving around
dogs & men along with Ruthie's stories & viewpoints on both! A positive,
insightful look on mans best friend and the women who love both the
mutt and the man. Musical director is Barry Anderson. Also appearing
are Ian Cosgrove on drums, Dennis Michael Keefe on bass.
Ruthie, a BFA Musical Theatre & Arts Management graduate,
was named one of the "Outstanding New Faces in 2004 Twin Cities'
Theatre" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune for her role in "Christmas
of Swing" at the Great American History Theatre in St. Paul, MN
, which she reprised in 2005. Other work in the Twin Cities includes
the workshop, tour & world premiere of the musical "Church Basement
Ladies" (Troupe America/ Plymouth Playhouse, MN), Emma Goldman in
"Assassins" (Minneapolis Theatre Garage), and dancer & ball guest
in the Guthrie's "Pride & Prejudice".
Ruthie was also Cinderella in "Into the Woods" (Paul
Bunyan Playhouse, MN), Patty Andrews in "Sisters of Swing" (Theatre
L¯Homme Dieu, MN) and Carolyn in "Aloha Flight 243 - Rough Cuts"
(Nautilus Musical Theatre, MN). A recent NY transplant, she is a
proud member of AEA and looks forward to making her mark on NYC.
Musical director Barry Anderson is a Wisconsin native
who has been working regionally for the past few years. A graduate
of UW - Eau Claire, one of Barry's favorite roles was Bobby Child
in Little Theatre on the Square's "Crazy for You". He is a pianist
for the Broadway Babies classes and will become a member of AEA
in the summer of 2007. "Of Mutts & Men" is Barrys NY cabaret music
director debut.
