JOE MURRAY BRINGS THE SOUNDS OF THE SOUTH TO THE DUPLEX
Pop/rockabilly vocalist Joe Murray makes a one night appearance at
THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438
-
http://www.theduplex.com/
) on Saturday, March 24th at 7:00 pm. The show - dubbed Joe Murray,
One Night With You - is a 75 minute, fast paced and Vegas-like, stage
show that promises to be a wild rock n' roll ride. From old standards
such as "I'm Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" and "Impossible Dream"
to pop hits such as "200 lbs of Heavenly Joy" and "She Bangs," Murray
sings them all and seeks to imprint his own vocal stamp on each number
included in the 25 song set list.
While Murray is not a stranger to the stage, his return
to The Duplex will mark his first live performance in 2007. This
year, Murray's set list includes a few country tunes, as he seeks
to draw on his experience while living in Tupelo, Mississippi, the
birthplace of Elvis Presley. Northeast Mississippi is a breeding
ground for musical talent and has birthed a unique musical sound
not found anywhere else in the USA. Murray was able to capture that
unique sound and record an album. The album consists of twenty cover
songs that have captured the sound of Northeast Mississippi.
During his four years in the south, Murray was constantly
entertaining. He was a headline act at the Lee County Relay for
Life; performed at the Union County Fair, the WAJS Birthday Bash
as well as Race for the Cure. Murray also performed a two hour show
at the Pecan Festival. Finally, Murray was a regular guest on the
"Mornin' Show," which is Northeast Mississippi's most watched morning
television program. Upon returning to New Jersey, Murray has also
been under the guidance of respected vocal coach Sal Dupree. Dupree
was the vocal coach of America's Got Talent winner Bianca Ryan.
There is a $10 cover and a 2-drink minimum.
