) on Easter Sunday 2007 April 8th with shows at 7:00 and 9:30 pm.
The show features songs from the chanteur's 50 year repetoire and
tells his story through narration and theatrical vignettes. Mr. Brassard
presents his own interpretations in French and English of the song
and dance style that Montand was adored for with songs like "La Bicyclette,"
"Le Gamin de Paris" (The Kid from Paris) and "Grands Boulevards",
alongside numbers such as "Incurably Romantic" and "Dansons la rose".
Jean Brassard is a member of the NightLife Award 2006
winning Kabarett Kollektif for which he created, directed and held
center stage in the Kollektif's PARIS NOCTURNE. This last year,
he was twice guest of Steve Ross on his lecture concerts: The songs
of Dietz and Schwartz and Americans in Paris in the Grace Rainey
Rodgers Auditorium at the Metropolitan Museum.
Born in Quebec City and a New Yorker since 1982, this
Quebecois has been building a career on stage, television and film.
He was even game enough to hold a 5 year stint as commentator for
the wildly theatrical 'conceptual sports' juggernaut World Wrestling
Federation. Most recently he conceived, produces and hosts CHEZ
JEAN Cabaret-Varietes; an evening in which he and his guests give
their time and talent in a fundraising production benefiting an
artist or artistic group in need to complete a project. He is also
currently the New York-US correspondant on Radio-Canada television
show: La fosse aux lionnes.
There is a $25 cover + $15 food/drink minimum.
