GEORGIA STITT CELEBRATES NEW CD AT BIRDLAND

composer Georgia Stitt in concert at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street,

) on Monday April 9th at 7:00 pm. She will be joined by some very
special guest performers, including Andrea Burns, Will Chase, Jenn
Colella, Matthew Morrison, Tituss Burgess, Cheyenne Jackson and Lauren
Kennedy. The event will celebrate the release of the new CD, "Pieces,"
released on the PS Classics label the following day, April 10th. This
concert is part of "Broadway at Birdland," an ongoing series of events
featuring top Broadway stars and songwriters at the legendary club.
Georgia Stitt makes her living as a composer, lyricist,
musical director, conductor, arranger, and pianist. She is currently
working as the on-camera vocal coach for the NBC reality TV show
"Grease: You're The One That I Want." She has written several musicals
for the theater, including The Water, written with Jeff Hylton and
Tim Werenko, and Big Red Sun, written with John Jiler. Georgia's
non-theatrical commissions include several choral pieces, A Better
Resurrection and The Promise of Light, published by Walton Music,
Let Me Sing For You, performed at The Kennedy Center, Echo, performed
by the Women's Chorus at the University of California, Berkeley,
and De Profundis, premiered by the International Orange Chorale
in San Francisco, as well as a setting of a poem by Howard Schwartz,
These Two, for string quartet and tenor. She contributed nine songs
to the American Music Festival in Tono, Japan and served as composer-in-residence
for the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York City.
Georgia worked as the Production Music Coordinator
for the Disney/ABC TV musical "Once Upon A Mattress" starring Tracey
Ullman and Carol Burnett. On Broadway she was the assistant conductor
of the 2003 Little Shop of Horrors revival and was the associate
conductor of the Encores! production of Can-Can starring Patti LuPone.
Also on Broadway: Avenue Q, Sweet Smell of Success, The Music Man,
Titanic, Annie, and the national tour of Parade, as well as the
upcoming Leap of Faith and The Little Mermaid. She has also served
as musical director and arranger/orchestrator for The Broadway Divas
in concerts in New York, California and Australia and was music
consultant for the feature film "The Stepford Wives," directed by
Frank Oz. In 2005 she served as an arranger for the Boston Pops
Orchestra (Keith Lockhart, conductor) in their 75th Anniversary
Tribute to Stephen Sondheim at Tanglewood and Boston's Symphony
Hall.
