CABARET NEWS - NEW YORK CITY




JOANNA PARSON & ACTORSLIFE.COM PRESENT "CREATE YOUR OWN WORK DAY"
A day of writing workshops and performances to benefit the Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans' Summer Art Camp: Children's Literature will be presented on Saturday, April 14th at the THE RIPLEY-GRIER STUDIOS (520 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, NYC - 212-946-2002) from 10:00 am until 5:45 pm. The event is hosted by ActorsLife.com and Joanna Parsons. Immediately after the workshops and performances, there will be a special edition of Ms. Parson's renowned HAPPY HOUR SALON featuring performances from Happy Hour Salon alumni. This multi-genre show, in ten-minute chunks will amuse, inspire, and excite.

Workshop sessions scheduled include Playwrighting with J. Holtham; Solo show writing/exercises with Joanna Parson; a Stand-up Comedy Class; Sketch Comedy Writing with Carl Kissin; a combined linch break/open mic; panel discussion by performers who will discuss successful projects and how they created work for themselves.

Suggested donation of $140 reserves you space in three workshops/panel/performances, $60 per individual workshop/panel/performance. All donations accepted, ALL PROCEEDS go to benefit Contemporary Art Center New Orlean's Art Camp, all tax-deductible. For every $140 raised, the sponsors will send an underprivileged New Orleans kid to interdisciplinary arts camp for a week.

The CAC Summer Art Camp is a multidisciplinary camp in New Orleans. Each day the children will attend classes in theater, music, visual arts, and dance with professional New Orleans artists as instructors. All kids from ages 6-14 are welcome, no arts experience is required.
