CRYER & FORD GETTING THEIR ACT TOGETHER AGAIN
After their smash sellout success at the 2006 Holiday E:Cafe, 59E59
THEATERS (59 East 59th Street, NYC - 212-279-4200 -
http://www.59e59.org/
) welcomes the return engagement of Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford
with GETTING THEIR ACT TOGETHER AGAIN. The show is a heady and hilarious
trip through Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford˙s professional and personal
lives. With a relationship that spans four decades, musical theater
team Cryer and Ford have been together longer than most marriages.
From their undergrad years at DuPauw University, through children
and marriages, and professional successes on and Off Broadway, Cryer
and Ford mine the hits (and a few of the side-splitting misses!) that
have made them musical theater's most successful and enduring female
writing team.
GETTING THEIR ACT TOGETHER AGAIN begins performances
on Tuesday, April 10th for a limited engagement through Friday,
April 20th. The performance schedule is Tuesday through Saturday
at 8:30 pm and Sunday at 3:30 and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $25.
Gretchen Cryer (Bookwriter/lyricist) and Nancy Ford
(Composer) in their work together are probably best known for I'm
Getting My Act Together and Taking It On the Road, which premiered
at the Public Theatre in 1978 and moved to The Circle in the Square/Downtown
for a three-year run. It was produced around the world and was recorded
in 5 languages.
Their first show in New York, Now Is the Time for
All Good Men, was followed by the critically acclaimed, award-winning
off- Broadway show The Last Sweet Days of Isaac and the Broadway
show Shelter. The Manhattan Theatre Club produced their revue, Hang
On to the Good Times and the Williamstown Theatre Festival premiered
their musical Eleanor (recently revised as Einstein and the Roosevelts).
Their two family musicals for American Girl are playing in New York,
Chicago and Los Angeles. Their musical adaptation of Anne of Green
Gables for TheatreWorks/USA, opens in March of 2007 at the Lucille
Lortel Theatre.
Between the two of them they have garnered a Grammy
nomination, an Obie, a Drama Desk Award, an Outer Critics' Circle
Award, an Ed Kleban Award, two Joseph Jefferson Awards, two Emmys,
two Writers Guild Awards, and four honorary doctorates. They are
