JIM SPEAKE SINGS THE MUSIC OF CY COLEMAN IN "I'M A BRASS BAND"

In his new show at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - http://www.metropolitanroom.com/ ), "I'M A BRASS BAND" vocalist…Jim Speake sings the music of Cy Coleman, the Tony, Emmy and Grammy award winning composer of Broadway musicals. Performances are scheduled for Saturdays April 21st & 28th at 5:00 pm. The show features as musical director Steven Ray Watkins with Matt Wigton on bass and Fred Kennedy on drums. Lennie Watts directs.

Jim Speake, originally from Alabama, is new to New York City, arriving in 2000. He has performed in theaters and clubs in the city including Birdland, Don't Tell Mama, the Duplex, Wings Theater, The Gallery Players and The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Ct. This is his solo debut at the…Metropolitan Room.…

Cy Coleman worked with many noted lyricists including: Dorothy Fields, Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, David Zippel, Michael Stewart and others. His Broadway works include The Will Rogers Follies, City of Angels, Sweet Charity, The Life, Barnum, Little Me, Seesaw, On the Twentieth Century, Wildcat and more. He also composed several pop and jazz standards.

There is a $15 cover charge and two drink minimum.
