MOSTLY CANADIAN VOCALIST ADI BRAUN AT METROPOLITAN ROOM
Fresh from her Western Canadian tour with performances at Calgary's
"Club Beat Niq" and the world-renowned "Banff Centre for the Arts,"
Canadian vocalist Adi Braun will perform "Mostly Canadian" at THE
METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 -
http://www.metropolitanroom.com/
) on Sunday, April 29th at 9:45 pm and Monday, April 30th at 7:00
pm, as part of her "US CD Release Tour." She will be accompanied by
the Tedd Firth, piano and Steve Watson, bass.
The Toronto-born vocalist grew up surrounded by music
& musicians. Her father, one of Canada's leading baritones, performed
mainly in Europe, and Adi spent her first 20 years in Germany, studying
piano at age six. With no formal voice lessons, she made her first
pop/jazz recording at age 19 and, hearing a natural voice, her parents
encouraged her to follow in the family tradition. Upon her return
to Canada, Adi trained classically, and soon began a career as a
classical recitalist, a soloist with orchestra & on stage with Canadian
opera companies. She co-founded Toronto's cabaret company "Blue
Rider Musical Productions," returning to the music she loved, what
she calls "cabarazz," drawing aspects from cabaret & jazz.
Adi has performed in Canada, the US, Germany & Italy,
at renowned clubs like Toronto's Top o' the Senator; the Montreal
Bistro, Rex Jazz & Blues Bar & Revival; San Francisco's Plush Room,
Octavia Lounge & Kelly's of Alameda; New York's Birdland & Joe's
Pub. A regular at jazz & summer festivals, she has appeared from
coast to coast in Canada & continues to receive rave reviews with
each performance. Her latest CD, The Rules of the Game, was released
in the US this past June on the LML label. Her first CD, Delishious,
made the Top Ten on jazz radio charts across Canada.
